The game Mario & Luigi™: Brothership will be released on November 7! Everyone will be able to raise the sails and set off on Naviovío Island (a ship-shaped island, quite the adventure!) alongside the mustachioed brothers as they explore the vast and unknown world of Concordia.

What’s that? You’ve never played any Mario & Luigi games? You don’t need to have played the previous titles to enjoy Mario & Luigi: Brothership. You can jump right into the fun and experience how the red- and green-capped brothers team up to tackle any challenge that comes their way!

Take a look at a brief timeline of our heroic brothers' past adventures, then scroll down to learn more about some features that have made this series so popular.

So, what kind of games are they?

Like the previous games in the series, Mario & Luigi: Brothership is an action-adventure, role-playing game where you control both brothers at the same time! In each game, the duo explores various places, embarks on quests, and perhaps most importantly, they use their brotherly bond to help those in need.

Are there battles like in other RPGs?

Mario and Luigi don’t like getting into trouble; in fact, they prefer helping others. But when villains start causing havoc, the fabulous brothers muster their courage and join forces to face them in turn-based battles.

Each brother has the chance to perform an action against these infamous foes, but they can also increase the damage they deal when one of them involves the other in the action, delivering some serious beatdowns in combat! We won’t go into too much detail right now, but be sure to check out the news section on your Nintendo Switch for our article about the combat system in Mario & Luigi: Brothership!

Get ready to laugh out loud!

This series is well-known for... its humor! Mario & Luigi: Brothership continues the comedic tradition* with new and funny characters, including a flying creature named Porcopolo, who will try to make it very clear that he’s not a pig (even though he clearly looks like one). There are also plenty of hilarious situations that the two brothers get into... though it's usually Luigi who ends up in the most ridiculous ones (how does he manage to get into such predicaments?).

Whether it’s puns or cheerful jokes, these games are full of moments that will make you laugh and laugh.

If I wanted to play the first game, could I do it today?

If you have an active subscription to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack**, you can enjoy the original Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga right now. That way, you’ll get a great idea of what to expect by going back to the origins of this RPG series.
